Levels of Disclosure – Who are they for?

Enhanced Disclosures
Enhanced Disclosures are for those who have a regular contact with children and young people and whose ‘type of work might involve regularly caring for, training, supervising or being in sole charge’.

Standard Disclosures
Standard Disclosures are for those who regularly undertake limited roles which bring them into contact with children and young people but who have no supervising or training responsibilities.

What will Disclosures reveal?

Enhanced Disclosures
An Enhanced Disclosure will contain details of all convictions held on the Police National Computer including current and ‘spent’ convictions as well as details of any cautions, reprimands or final warnings.

The Disclosure will indicate whether information is held on the lists held by the Department of Health (DofH) and the Department for Education and Skills (DfES).

It will also include a check on local police records.

Standard Disclosures
As for Enhanced Disclosure, a Standard Disclosure will contain details of all convictions held on the Police National Computer including current and ‘spent’ convictions as well as details of any cautions, reprimands or final warnings.
The Disclosure will indicate whether information is held on the lists held by the DH and the DfES.

There is no check on local police records.

Who needs a Disclosure?

A Disclosure is necessary for the appointment of all people whose post or role brings them into direct contact with children, young people or vulnerable adults.
